An Independence Celebration

Yesterday, my friends and I celebrated the independence of this great country of ours... by getting really drunk and blowing things up. Ah, yes... we are true patriots. The Boy and I decided at Six Flags that we were going to throw a party for the 4th. We live about a block from the beach and the neighborhood is usually pretty wacky on that day. There are generally parties everywhere and my neighbors spend a good part of the evening trying to blow up the little private beach that we all love so much. This year would be no different and we were not disappointed. About six our seven houses on my street had parties and there was no parking to be found. Luckily my driveway was big enough to accomodate our guests.

Now, you have to understand that The Boy and I did a really half assed job of planning the get together... We sent some emails and made some phone calls that basically said show up after 4 if you can make it. At 4, we had set up the chairs and the three of us (Boy, Logan, and I) were sitting in the yard facing the back gate like a bunch of losers expecting no one to show. A true party could not be stopped, however, and before too long pretty much everyone we had invited showed. This was Logan's probationary appearance at a party, and he was a very good moose. He was the hit of the party. Just picture an 80 lb. dog rolling around the middle of a group of lawn chairs with a huge stuffed hedgehog in his mouth. It was quite the vision, to say the least.

We drank beer and tons of sangria and headed down to the beach for the fireworks display. Sean brought a stash of his own and lit them off by the water. Let me tell you, it was like a warzone out there. The people in our neighborhood drop CASH for their fireworks. People were shooting off huge mortars. It was absolutely amazing. A good time was definitely had by all, and I think that a tradition may have been born.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
