A Random Memory

This random story about my father popped into my head while I was walking into my office's kitchen to pour myself a glass of water. It's a good indication as to where I get some of my attributes, so I figured I would share.

Now, this I had to have been about 9 or so when this happened. My father had found these sneakers that he really loved, so much that he bought them in two fabulous early 80s colors: poop brown and navy blue.

Fast forward a month or two. My dad and older brother go out to run an errand. My brother looks at my father when he got out of the car and starts shaking his head. "Dad, you have two different shoes on." My dad looks down and notices that he is wearing one brown shoe and one blue one. He had no intention of going home just to swap out a shoe, so he proceeds to walk with a limp to make it seem like there is some legitimate reason for him to have two different shoes on.

We mocked him for years on that one... Actually, I think I may give him a call today and mock him some more.

I think the funniest part of the story is the fact the way he dealt with his miscue sounds totally reasonable and logical to me. I think I would have done the same thing in that situation. I think that explains a lot, don't you?
