An Early Wedding Gift

My Bachelorette Tattoo

Courtesy of my good friend Nick at Brass City Tattoo.
It was very sweet of him to hook me up.

Icky Sicky

It's just over a week to the wedding and... The Boy and I are both sick as dogs.

Him? Bronchitis
Me? Strep Throat

We both saw our doctors and are on some good drugs, so we should be in tip top shape for the wedding. *crosses fingers*

Don't get any bright ideas

Maybe this is why we're not allowed to have candles at our wedding location.

Devil Dog

My father scanned in a lot of old photos, and I came across this one of my oldest nephew who is now 11 (hi, can you say c-mum is getting OLD??) and our dearly departed dalmatian Casey. Vinny used to love being put in the swing and would doze off happily. Casey, on the other hand, was a tipper. He'd knock over his food bowl or whatever happened to be around... including the seat of the swing, only it wouldn't tip and the dog would be rocking the chair with his paw.

But look at the expression on both of their faces... Classic!

Congratulations to The Boy

One of his poems is getting published in the English Journal. That's his 4th publication over the past couple of years.

I'm so proud!

Lightning Bolt

It's official... My family, adults and children alike, are completely incapable of behaving at church. This weekend, my oldest niece celebrated her first holy communion and we all dressed up in our Sunday (well, Saturday) best and went to go support her. The whole clan filed into a single pew, which I think was the first mistake. We definitely should have been separated.

The place was packed with well-wishers and places to sit were scarce. The priest requests that people squish together to try and make room. My father, yes FATHER body checks me into The Boy and sends me flying.

Now, you have to understand that my family is Italian Catholic to the core. Both my folks went to all-gender high schools and colleges. We all went to CCD and got confirmed. I credit them for being open-minded enough to teach us all about the faith and then make our own decisions as to how to worship. The Boy and are are very spiritual people, but take bits of many religions that appeal to us.

All this aside, it was still kind of comical when my dad thought he was being sly by sneaking pictures of us in the pew:

It was a nice try, though... Really.
